" We at Stone Cottage Band Instrument Shoppe strive to provide you with excellent customer service. We know that a quality, well functioning instrument will increase the musician's chance to grow as a player, whether they are a new student or a seasoned professional."
Located at 761 S Main Street, Waynesville , NC, Stone Cottage Band Instrument Shoppe was established in 2001. The name is taken from the 100 year old building in which it is housed, a stacked-stone cottage. The name "Stone Cottage" invokes ideas of old-time caring and service and a genuine atmosphere, where the owners of the company are involved in the day to day business. Stone Cottage services schools in 9 counties of Western North Carolina. They offer in-house repairs, accessories, rent band and orchestra instruments, and sell new and used instruments.
As well as providing band and orchestra instruments and accessories, they specialize in woodwind and brass instruments, providing service for area school bands, universities, and select music stores. They believe in old fashioned, personal, friendly service. They strive to improve the musical experience of student, hobbyist and professional musicians with quality products and professional repair services.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Lee comes to us with an extensive background in wholesale and retail musical accessories and instruments, which gives him a wide range of knowledge of the gear available throughout the industry. Training in art mold making and design drafting taught Lee to give his special attention to detail. Lee not only works in the shop, but is our educational representative to many schools in the area. As a professional musician, Lee has on stage experience as a drummer and percussionist and he understands the vigor of frequent performing. With a lifetime in the music business, his main goal is to connect his customers with what they want and need. In his spare time, Lee enjoys spending time with his wife, Rhonda and his adult children . He also spends time performing, touring and recording with local and regional bands.
A graduate of Appalachian State University, Rhonda has a Bachelor of Arts in Music Industries with a concentration in Wind Instrument Studies and a minor in Industrial Technologies. This training concluded with an apprenticeship at Duncan Music Company where she worked for several years following college. With 30 years of experience as a band instrument technician, she sees her craft as part mechanics and science, and part art. She is meticulous and exacting, which results in premium quality and guaranteed repairs and excellent customer service. In her spare time, Rhonda enjoys spending time with our resident mascot dog, Daisy, whom she calls her "white shadow", spending time with her grown children and her husband, Lee. She also enjoys playing both "Legit and Jazz Saxophones" in several groups around the community.
